About Wilson M. de N. Canda
Hi, I am Wilson. I like to build things. Mostly software, sometimes hardware, sometimes the case for looking at things from a different point of view.
I run MetaSolves, a tech agency based in Cape Town, South Africa. We work with startups and established businesses on building what comes next.
I've been in software engineering long enough to know the hard problems are rarely purely technical. They're more often rooted in people, their mental models, habits and attention. What we choose to optimize for and what we quietly leave in entropy's care. The code is the relatively easy part.
I'm a father. That reorganized my priorities in ways I couldn't have imagined. Made life more complex but also beautifully simple. More serious but also hilariously fun.
I study integrative practices because the patterns I find there keep showing up in computation, language, engineering, leadership, the list keeps going. I got into this because in my twenties I felt that I was after the smallest possible unit of information that had the greatest possible descriptive capacity relative to the universe.
I am most likely to write about perspectives I find informative but disproportionately under-represented in discourse.
